Religion is child abuse
For those who take such objection to the notion that religious instruction constitutes child abuse I do wonder how they would answer two questions. If this had happened as a result of anything but religious belief would the judge have allowed it, and would there be any reason not to label the boy's indoctrination as child abuse. Its a filthy lie that kills and, unlike history's other great fantasies, we applaud it.

As long as hypotheticals are the currency of the realm, what if the boy did not like how sick chemo made him feel and elected to adopt a macrobiotic approach to cleansing the cancer from his body? Would 'the judge' have allowed it and is it 'child abuse' to idly stand by and let him do it? Do experts rule, or are people free to follow their conscience? The notion that the govt knows best is a fantasy and that it hasn't been given a proper try is a filthy lie.
If he didn't like how the chemo made him feel then it would be a decision relating to his health, not some notion of what an invisible sky wizard considers pure.
Of course making a decision based on how he feels might be inimical to his health. However it remains a personal decision that no wizard, visible or invisible, should interfere. God may deem chemo more appropiate but unlike the judge, he doesn't pack the power of the gun. God is a liberterian.
